Oman Reinsurance Company (ORIC) was registered on 4 August 2008 with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion, in accordance with the provisions of the Commercial Companies Law and the Oman Insurance Companies Law of the Sultanate of Oman. The Company's commercial registration number is 1052000.It was incorporated with a paid-up capital of OMR 5 million (USD 13 million). ORIC obtained a license to operate reinsurance business on 2 July 2009 from the Capital Market Authority (CMA) and is principally engaged in underwriting reinsurance business including fire, engineering, accident, medical, motor and aviation classes. The company's head office is located at Al Khuwair, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. In 2015, its capital was increased to OMR 30 million (USD 78 million). By 2021, ORIC had successfully launched its branch at the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) and conducted an Initial Public Offering (IPO), listing on the Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX). In 2022, its gross written premium reached OMR 36.6 million (USD 95 million).
