Activities

Emaar Malls group is a shopping malls and retail subsidiary of Emaar properties. Operating as a public joint stock company with its head office located in Dubai, the company mainly functions as a managing company and development arm for the shopping malls and retail centers owned by Emaar Properties. The company was established in 2005as a LLC between Emaar Properties and Emirates Property Holdings Limited with shares distributed between them as 99% and 1% respectively. Later, in 2014, Emaar Properties increased its sharesup to 99.9%. Emaar Malls has announced investments in shopping malls of over AED15 billion with 12 million sqft of retail property in operation or under development in the emerging markets of the Middle East, North Africa, the Indian Subcontinent and South Asia. The company owns and manages malls, including Gold & Diamond Park, a destination for gold and diamond jewelries; The Dubai Mall, a shopping and entertainment destination; Dubai Marina Mall, a lifestyle and shopping destination; Souk Al Bahar, an Arabic-style retail and dining destination located in Downtown Dubai; and The Ranches Souk, a community mall. It has a gross leasable area of approximately 5.9 million square feet. The company functions with the help of 4 business units named as 'super regional malls' unit, 'regional malls' unit, 'community integrated retail' unit and 'specialty retail unit'. 'Super regional malls'units are responsible for shopping malls and retail centers that measure more than 800,000 sq. feet leasable area. Regional malls segment deals in shopping malls that measure between 400,000 to 800,000 sq. feet in covered area. Community integrated unit handles leasing and maintenance of retail centers that are less than 400,000 sq. feet in size. Specialty retail unit deals with retail spaces for specialty businesses like dinning, commercial offices and retail stores for manufacturers.
