In a major boost to Oman's vehicle manufacturing sector, Karwa Motors has signed a strategic partnership with Mercedes-Benz (Daimler Truck Middle East & Africa) to produce Mercedes-Benz buses for both domestic and international markets.
The agreement, concluded during the Busworld Europe 2025 exhibition in Brussels, officially recognises Karwa Motors as a Certified Builder of Mercedes-Benz buses.
Under the partnership, the two companies will collaborate on technical and commercial aspects to strengthen Karwa Motors' manufacturing capabilities in the region.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Ibrahim al Balushi, Chief Executive Officer of Karwa Motors, and Michael Dietz, President and CEO of Daimler Truck Middle East & Africa.
Marcus Watts, Vice-President of Mercedes-Benz Buses, commented, "This agreement represents an important milestone in the development of our collaboration with Karwa Motors. It demonstrates the strength of industrial partnerships in the region and lays the foundation for a robust, export-oriented manufacturing base in Oman."
Dr Ibrahim Balushi said, "At Karwa Motors, we are proud to sign this strategic partnership with Mercedes-Benz, which represents a significant step toward realizing our vision of establishing Karwa Motors as a global player in the bus manufacturing industry alongside leading manufacturers. Through this agreement, Karwa Motors has become an officially certified Builder of Mercedes-Benz buses, a formal recognition of our manufacturing and technical capabilities that meet the highest standards of quality and safety."
"This partnership opens new horizons for us to work closely with Mercedes-Benz in the development and production of modern buses for regional and global markets, while strengthening the Sultanate of Oman's position as a regional industrial hub for advanced transportation technologies and sustainable manufacturing," he added.
