Customs processing on UAE-Pakistan shipments will speed up after a new deal between AD Ports Group and the Pakistan Single Window platform.

Shippers can thus submit all data related to import, export and transit related needs through a unified digital portal.

This comes into play after Maqta Technologies Group - the digital arm of AD Ports Group - went in for the tie up with Pakistan Singe Window. The latter is a Pakistan government-owned digital platform that helps streamline trade processing.

The two will bring in 'value-added services' such as digital customs clearance, smart warehousing, risk management systems, ecommerce, cargo/port community systems, trade finance, and predictive analytics for trade optimisation and risk management.

"We will leverage our combined capabilities to unlock new commercial opportunities and maximise trade facilitation in Pakistan and global markets," said Dr. Noura Al Dhaheri, CEO of Digital Cluster and CEO of Maqta Technologies Group - AD Ports Group.

Expanded operations in Pakistan
The AD Ports Group has been actively pursuing new growth possibilities in Pakistan since 2023. The ADX-listed firm bagged a 50-year concession with Kaheel Terminals to operate five container terminal berths at Karachi's East Wharf.

Last year, it entered a 25-year concession deal to operate seven general and bulk cargo berths at the same location.

"Pakistan plays a crucial role in AD Ports Group's strategic growth in Central Asia, acting as the maritime gateway of the 'Middle Corridor' that links Asia and Europe," said a statement.

The redevelopment of the Karachi Port - Pakistan's main port with overland connections into Central Asia - aims to 'transform the Middle Corridor into a modern and cost-efficient maritime sea route'.
