The general consumer price index (CPI) in the Sultanate of Oman recorded an increase of 1.5 percent in October 2025 compared to the corresponding month in 2024, based on the base year 2018. The average inflation rate for the period from January to October of the current year also rose by 0.9 percent.

Data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the average inflation rate for the group of miscellaneous personal goods and services in the Sultanate of Oman during the period from January to October 2025 reached 6.6 percent. This group topped the list of the groups with the highest increase at 8.8 percent in October compared to the same month in 2024, followed by the transport group at 3.9 percent, then the restaurants and hotels group at 2.6 percent, the furniture, furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance group at 2.5 percent, and the education group at 2.2 percent.

The data indicated that the food and non-alcoholic beverages group saw a slight increase of 0.4 percent, while the prices of the clothing and footwear group and the health group increased by 0.1 percent each.

Conversely, the prices of the culture and entertainment group decreased by 0.3 percent, while the prices of the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group, the communications group, and the tobacco group remained stable without recording any change.

Regarding the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, the data confirmed an increase in a number of sub-groups. The fish group led at 5.6 percent, followed by the sugar, jam, honey, and confectionery group at 3.7 percent, then the food products not classified elsewhere group at 3 percent. The prices of the milk, cheese, and eggs group also rose by 0.9 percent, while the oils and fats group and the bread and cereals group each increased by 0.5 percent.

Meanwhile, the prices of the vegetables group decreased by 3.7 percent, followed by the fruits group at 0.4 percent. The meat group and the non-alcoholic beverages group also witnessed a slight decrease of 0.1 percent each.

At the governorate level in the Sultanate of Oman, the data showed that Al Dhahirah Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate until the end of October 2025 compared to the same period last year at 2.9 percent, followed by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate at 2.1 percent, then Al Buraimi Governorate at 2 percent.

The inflation rate in both Musandam and Muscat Governorates reached 1.5 percent each, in South Al Batinah Governorate at 1.3 percent, then Dhofar Governorate at 1 percent. Both North Al Batinah and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates recorded an inflation rate of 0.9 percent, while the inflation rate in Al Wusta Governorate reached 0.8 percent.
