Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Egypt's Metallurgical Industries Holding for exploring strategic collaboration opportunities to potentially develop an alumina refinery in Egypt.
The MoU was signed in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, during his official visit to Egypt.
The MoU sets the framework for developing the alumina refinery, with potential for offtake agreements and equity participation.
The MoU was signed by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Minister of Finance and National Economy and Chairman of Mumtalakat Holding Company; and Mohammed Al Sadawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Metallurgical Industries Holding Co.
